Tourist (Temporary Visitor): Tourism 15-90 days. Visa waiver for 68+ countries. Processing 5-7 days where required. Multiple entry up to 5 years.
Highly Skilled Professional (HSP): Points-based (70 plus). Cat 1 (70pts): 5-year visa, PR in 3 years. Cat 2 (80 plus): PR in 1 year.
Work Visa (Engineer/Humanities): Degree + job offer. IT, engineering, marketing, finance. Valid 1-5 years. PR after 10 years (3 for HSP).
Student Visa: Full-time study. Valid 1-2 years. Work 28 hrs/week (permission). 48 hrs/week vacations.
Business Manager Visa: Entrepreneurs. Min investment JPY 5M (about USD 35K). Physical office required. Valid 1-5 years. PR after 10 years.
Specified Skilled Worker (SSW): 14 industries. SSW-1 (up to 5yr, N4 minimum). SSW-2 (renewable indefinite, family join, N3 minimum).
Family Stay: Spouses/children of visa holders. Spouse work 28 hrs/week. Same duration as reference visa.
Permanent Residence: Standard: 10 years. HSP: 3 years (70pts) or 1 year (80pts). Sufficient assets and good conduct. Processing 6-12 months.
