Step 1: Complete DS-160 form

Fill out the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application at ceac.state.gov. Have your passport, travel history, and employment details ready. Save the DS-160 confirmation barcode number.

Step 2: Upload compliant photo

Upload a 2x2 inch (51x51mm) photo with white background taken within the last 6 months. No glasses, no shadows, neutral expression.

Step 3: Pay MRV fee

Pay the non-refundable visa application fee through the designated payment system. Keep the payment receipt with the confirmation number.

Step 4: Schedule interview

Create a profile on the US Travel Docs portal for your country. Schedule the earliest available interview slot. Check for cancellations daily for earlier dates.

Step 5: Prepare documents

Gather passport, DS-160 confirmation, appointment letter, fee receipt, bank statements, employment letter, property documents, travel itinerary, and previous passports.

Step 6: Attend visa interview

Arrive at the embassy 30 minutes early. No electronics allowed. Be honest and concise. Expect questions about travel purpose, ties to home country, and employment.

If approved, track your passport via the courier tracking link. Processing after interview takes 3-5 business days. Check the visa validity carefully.

Chinese citizens with 10-year B1/B2 visas must register in the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) before travel. Registration valid for 2 years.
